A downloadable game

Dungeon Crawl Classics is a fantastic ttrpg focused on pulpy adventures (think anything you can airbrush on the side of a panel van) with dramatic swings in fortune. One prominent changer of fortune is the existence of powerful patrons. Patrons are demons, angels, elementals, planar beings, Chaos Lords, extremely powerful wizards, elder gods, alien intelligences, and other beings who exchange power and knowledge for favors.

Here are some patrons I've been writing up.

Completed Patrons

  • The KiTH, the Laughing Faces of the North: "The KiTH is an assemblage of spirits of mirth from the Frozen North whose patronage has been sought out by people from many different lands. As spirits of mirth, the KiTH delight in laughter and merry-making, but their mischief can run to the dark and deadly side. Supplicants of the KiTH who endure their patrons’ capricious nature tell tales of laughter and joy granted upon them that enabled them survive even the coldest winters of the North."

Partially Completed Patrons

  • Artio, Queen of the Bears: "The great bear Artio can be seen roaming the wilds, but often prefers to slumber in her cave for months at a time. When Artio is stirred she can roar into combat cleaving her foes with her great paws, and snapping off heads with her devilishly sharp teeth."
  • Klabautermann, the Sailor’s Kobold: "Klabautermann is a water kobold, clothed in yellow sailor’s garb who assists fishermen and sailors in their time of need. He is a jovial and tireless creature, adept at all watercraft, and always whistling a tune. Though Klabautermann is never seen, but those who are doomed, his presence can be felt in the sea spray, melody of a sea shanty, and the rolling of the waves. Klabautermann demands little of advocates, only that they aid their fellows while traveling on the sea. Those who align themselves with Klabautermann gain the ability to offer aid to themselves and their companions."
  • Shejikal, the Mistress of the Depths: "Shejikal is an eight tentacled monstrosity of colossal size who claims dominion over the sea.  Rarely seen, her spawn are often sent out to mete judgement to those who displease her. To form a bond with Shejikal one must submerge themselves in the sea and withstand a tortuous affair to be proven worthy. Shejikal grants her followers portions of her fearsome power to  protect the sea and those who live in it as long as all acknowledge her primacy of the sea."
